Many people use popular ringtones to express their own individuality. When someone calls you and your cell phone plays your favorite tunes, this is a good way to put a smile on your face and make the world consider you in a different way.

But ringtones have some very practical uses as well. First of all, any custom ringtone that you select will increase the chances that you will be able to identify your phone ringing in a group. If you just use the standard ringtone that came with your cell phone, how often have you heard that ringtone and reached for your phone, only to find out that some else's phone is actually ringing? In other words, someone else has the same default ringtone you have.

You can certainly solve that problem by just buying a new ringtone. Do not select any of the standard ringtones supplied with the phone. Instead, get a ringtone that no other people own so you can be certain it is your phone that is ringing.

Another practical use is in setting different ring tones for different people. Suppose you are in one room and your cellphone is in another. If you only have a single ring tone, you don't know whether you must run and get your ringing cell phone or not. But with one ring tone for your sweetie, one for your Dad, one for your irritating neighbor who never stops calling, you will always know whether it is necessary to make the attempt.

So go ahead and purchase some ringtones that you want to hear. These can save you some aggravation in situations you wouldn't initially know of.
